Our concierge, Helen, will gladly assist you with any questions relating to the wedding including airport transportation, wedding venue, extra activities or tours, spa visits, scooter and bike rentals, and yacht or catamaran tours. Will your wedding be indoors or outdoors?

This is an outdoor wedding in the Mayan Jungle in Tulum, Mexico. However, some areas of the venue do have canopy covers.

Have you reserved blocks of rooms at one or more hotels?

Yes! We have reserved room blocks for you in Tulum at Mahayana, but it is not required to stay in a room block if you do not choose to. Mahayana has private beachfront homes in one of best beaches in Tulum! We have rented out this full property for 3 nights/4 days if you wish to stay here. Dates: Thursday, December 5th - Monday, December 9th, 2024 Please visit our 'Travel' section on our website for more information on reservations.

How much should I expect to spend on this destination wedding?

We understand that everyone has different budgets, especially traveling from abroad, and we have chosen Mexico as our destination wedding with this in mind. Trips to Tulum can either be a budget travel option for you or luxurious depending on what you are looking for. We recommend looking up trips into Cancun, Mexico on Google Flights to get an idea of the average round trip cost. For example, Google Flight Trends show a round trip price of $167 - $345 (from Chicago, IL). By looking at flight trends and booking early, you will have a better chance of getting a cheaper flight price. For hotel stays, you can choose to stay at Mahayana, an all-inclusive, or Airbnb. Any questions relating to travel and expenses please reach out to Helen at Destination Weddings Tulum: reservation@destinationweddingstulum.com

What is the easiest way to get to the wedding venue?

There is a new airport in Tulum, Mexico. The bride and groom have booked flights directly to Tulum airport. We also recommend flying into Cancun, Mexico as another option. Tulum airport is about 55 mins from Mahayana and Cancun airport is 1hr 51mins. For questions about travel, airport transportation, tours, spa visits, scooter or catamaran tours please get in touch with our concierge Helen from Destination Weddings Tulum: reservation@destinationweddingstulum.com.

Will there be a shuttle to and/or from the hotel(s)?

Yes, if you're staying at Mahayana, please list your arrival and departure dates in your RSVP. If not, please work with our wedding concierge, Helen at Destination Weddings Tulum (reservation@destinationweddingstulum.com) who will help you with transportation.

What is the weather like in the area?

Temperatures will be between 70 - 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Although the wedding is not during rainy season the jungle has the possibility of short light showers. The venue is outdoor but does provide canopy.

Am I allowed to bring my children?

Yes! Please specify them in your guest count within your RSVP.

Am I allowed to bring a plus one?

Yes! Please add your wedding date within your RSVP count.

Will there be an open bar?

Yes! We have already reserved an open bar for at least 4 hours. Further food and drink information to follow in formal invitation. The wedding venue is also BYOB and you are free to bring any special drinks of your choice.

Where should we bring/send our wedding gift?

Our address is: Brittany & Hernan Ray 5859 Denbury Ln Loves Park, IL 61111 We understand that you are taking the time to come to another country to celebrate with us so your presence at our wedding is a gift to us.

Is Mexico a safe place to travel?

Yes. Just like any foreign location, exercise caution. Cancun and Tulum are very touristy destinations and are safe. Travel safety tips: don't wear excessive jewelry, stay within the touristy areas and main cities, don't walk around unknown neighborhoods late at night (just like you would on your own neighborhood).

Is water safe to drink in Mexico?

No. You should avoid drinking tap or locally purified water. Most destinations, and Mahayana, will provide you with bottled water.

Bathroom policy

If this is your first time in Mexico, please know that most bathrooms outside of resorts do charge 5 to 10 Mexican Pesos to use. We advise that you carry Mexican Pesos and toilet paper if you are adventuring outside of touristy zones.
